It has been a year since our last visit to DC, we flew back to Barcelona when I was 4 months pregnant and between the pregnancy and Liel’s birth there wasn’t a good moment to travel back. Which is why this trip even though shorter than my usual visits in the DC, was so special, seeing family and friends, having all of them meet Liel for the first time, and of course having Shirel make memories she will probably remember more than last time:) But besides all the usual friends and family get togethers, I had this Parents Staycation to look forward to at The Jefferson Hotel, my favorite hotel in DC! I had never stayed a night in the hotel, but we have beautiful memories of dining at Le Plume restaurant in Valentine’s Day, having coffee with friends at the hotel, shooting Holiday looks with their beautiful decoration, and well those who know me know my obsession with hotels, and this one is so special because of it’s beautiful design, how it represents the city and it’s history, it is so charming and cozy, it does not feel huge and cold like many hotels do, this hotel has so much personality that it makes you feel at home the moment you walk in.So you can imagine how excited I was to spend the night there, and get the full Jefferson experience!

It comes as no surprise that I am an Interior Design passionate, so it makes sense that every little detail of the hotel charms me, from the floors to the ceilings, to the beautiful Le Plum restaurant, the flowers, the cutlery, the little library room with the cozy fireplace, the endless bed with just the right amount of pillows, the delicious muffins and coffee they serve in the mornings just because they care, so yes I LOVED it all!

These breaks from the kids are essential for my mind and soul as well as essential for us as a couple. Especially since I spend months alone with the kids when my husband is away for work. As parents we feel overwhelmed probably most of the time, but there are moments where we reach that limit, and we need to acknowledge that, and take action, get a babysitter and plan a date night, go to the movies, or go to a spa for a few hours, to your favorite restaurant, or simply for a walk or a glass of wine, and if you can afford it in terms of time and money, do get a staycation or get away for the weekend just the two of you! The kids will be fine:) If you are a DC resident a staycation or a delicious dinner is a must at The Jefferson, and if you are visiting DC this charming and beautiful boutique hotel has everything you need in terms of location, excellent attention, beautiful decor, and delicious food!
