Shirel in Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney dress

There are many a days where I wish I could borrow some of Shirel’s clothes (Is it ok to say I’m jealous of my toddler’s wardrobe?)…and this is one of them!! I really think I need this Stella McCartney dress in an adult size 🙂 I always knew I would enjoy dressing my daughter…I guess I just didn’t realize how much fun it would be!! One of the questions I always get asked is where I shop for Shirel’s wardrobe or what my favorite brands are, and AlexandAlexa.com is my to go to online shop for Shirel. I can find my favorite brands on there, and the best selection in one place! So you can imagine how excited I was about working with them, and styling Shirel with their pieces:) This is the first look (stay tuned for many more, and follow me on Instagram to see previews of the looks & behind the scenes of the shoots Shirel is really fun:), which is this beautiful Stella McCartney  dress, style with gold converse and a cool IKKS leather jacket, you can find a similar jacket by GUESS. This dress is absolutely stunning, for a casual look like this one, or for a special occasion like a wedding, styled with pretty ballerina shoes! One thing that made me SO happy, is that when Shirel dropped her ice cream on it I wiped it right away with a wet wipe, and there isn’t a stain in sight! So you can imagine my happiness:) BTW I apologize for the photo overload, but I just couldn’t choose, I love all of them!

Farfetch, #TheOne

It is no secret that I love shopping at Farfetch.com, and I have been doing so for years now. Which is why when I got the email to be part of their #TheOne campaign, I could not have been more excited. I have partnered with them in the past, and have always loved to be included in their campaigns, because it is another reason to browse around their amazing pieces, and see what the hottest pieces are for the season. This time I was on the hunt for #TheOne, that one piece that makes my heart go boom, and quite honestly it was a bit difficult picking one amongst all the treasures I found, so I must share now of course all the summer pieces I fell in love with while on my search for #TheOne! As well as my most coveted Farfetch item, and how I would style it:) Out of all of these, my most coveted piece is the J.W. Anderson logo detail purse bag in cream (but honestly in any color)! This bag makes me see the stars! I first saw it on a friend of mine this past Fall and was just mesmerized, by every little detail, by it’s fantastic quality, and simply by how it commanded my attention. I immediately knew this was the next bag I must have, for some reason it exudes power, and I want that power:) So dream if I may, when I get (or if I get) my hands on this bag, I would style it with these pieces for the summer. I usually go to either Ibiza, or Mallorca in the summer, but this summer we might ventura to Italy somewhere like Positano is definitely an option, so this is the look I envision while scrolling around with my new  J.W. Anderson bag!

Here you can see the pieces I found along the way on my search for #TheOne, or you can also browse on the Pinterest board I created for the campaign.

To get my inspiration, I always head over to Pinterest, and this time is no exception, I digged into my Summer Style board to get inspiration for #TheOne and how I would style my most coveted Farfetch piece this summer!

Dove, Love Your Hair

Dove Love Your HairThere are so many life lessons and life experiences I cannot wait to teach and share with my daughter as she grows older, for now the little things I can teach her is my love for music, my love for her and for others around us, to love herself and believe she is smart, brave, strong, and beautiful inside out.

Shirel is 2 years old and this age is so precious, people would always tell me and now I understand exactly what they meant. She is more opinionated, and can finally voice them, everything from what she wants to eat, to what she wants to wear, and even how she wants to wear her hair, usually she asks me to braid it like Elsa (yes she is obsessed with Frozen already). I remember when she was born the first few days were so overwhelming in so many ways as you other mothers know, and those of you who aren’t yet you can only imagine! I would hold her and stare at her in disbelief that I just gave birth to this little beautiful baby girl, but at the same time she looked nothing like me, she looked Asian like my husband, and as much as you prepare yourself and know that she will be a mixed child it still takes time to take it in when you are actually holding her and staring at her. Dove Love Your HairBut that only lasted a few days, and then I realized I now am a mother and the love I feel for her is so powerful that nothing else matters, especially not the comments you hear from people which at first are shocking and offensive, but then you realise they don’t matter because you will teach her that she is special and beautiful. The comments I have gotten from strangers, and close people as well are “such a shame she doesn’t have your eyes”, or “such a shame she doesn’t have your blonde thick hair!” That to me is enough for a little girl to hear and start to believe that she isn’t beautiful enough, because she doesn’t look like what everyone else believes beautiful is! Beautiful is not just one type or one kind, and I refuse to let that affect my daughter and how she perceives herself when she starts to grow up.

I will teach her that her eyes are beautiful and unique, her skin is beautiful and her hair is so beautiful, that she is a beautiful person because of how she treats others, because she is smart and capable, with a kind heart! That her heritage is something to be proud of, she is half Chinese and half Georgian a truly unique and beautiful mix that shows in her personality and in her unique features. Dove Love Your Hair haya-0338 haya-0339

That is why I love our “hair moment” every morning after I get her dressed, and I sit her down in front of the mirror to do her hair, and she acts silly making funny faces to make me laugh, or she tells me that today she would like her hair in a braid like Elsa, it is such a sweet moment that I do not take for granted and it takes me back to my childhood and how much I loved when my mother did my hair! Hair is such an important element in my culture, it shows not only beauty but your heritage and your roots, I have (blonde) thick wavy hair such as my father, and Shirel has silky dark hair just like her father, and I cannot wait until she grows up and starts to do her hair and asks for my advice. Her hair will be another way of her to be proud of who she is and her heritage, and I will be right there next to her teaching her to love it and treat it with kindness and love, just as she should treat herself and others.

There is a narrow depiction of what “beautiful hair” is traditionally thought to look like and earlier this year Dove Hair found that 8 in 10 women feel pressure to wear their hair a certain way. For many these pressures began at an early age! Dove Hair believes a positive role model can greatly impact a girl’s confidence. In fact a recent Dove study, found that 82% of girls learn to care about themselves from their mother. As a mother you can make a difference and help ensure she grows up feeling confident. Celebrate the beauty of your daughter’s hair today, so she loves her hair tomorrow. Tell her why you love her hair and inspire her to do the same by sharing your #LoveYourHair selfie and tagging @Dove. Amira Training Club

Amira Training ClubTaking care of my body has always been such a huge part of my daily habits, and routine. I started practicing Yoga and Pilates at the age of 23, I practiced dance and did as much cardio as I could get (most of the time spending two to three hours). I had a lot of time to take care of myself, that I now don’t have anymore, since I am a mother. I have tried getting back into the swing of things, from time to time going to Zumba classes, or some boot camp classes (where I actually hurt myself the last time I went). Which is why when I heard of Amira Training Club once I got back to Barcelona, I couldn’t resist but going. I had tried Barre a few years ago in DC, but I never really got into it. Amira has a way to inspire you in her classes, not only because of her incredible dancen’s body, and the way she lifts her legs with such grace and ease (I definitely look anything but graceful, but slowly getting there). Ever since I have started taking her classes, I feel stronger, more agile, lighter, and simply motivated to take care of my mind body and soul. It sin’t just the technique, it is everything about the space as well, big windows with natural light, greenery when you look at the beautiful courtyard, the other women who are making time to come into the classes and do something positive for themselves, the other classes such as Zumba, or Pilates, but still my favorite is Fitness Ballet with Amira. If you are in Barcelona please try out one of Amira’s classes, and tell me if you do! I will keep posting more about it! Till then I hope you enjoy these few photos… Amira Training ClubAmira Training ClubAmira Training ClubAmira Training ClubAmira Training ClubAmira Training ClubAmira Training Club

Jo Malone, City Center DC

Jo MaloneJo MaloneIt’s been a minute since I got a chance to post on the blog! I guess I can never say it enough times, I wish I had more hours in a day, honestly, the days start and then before I manage to do half of what I planned it’s 4pm and I have to pick up Shirel from daycare! Once I pick her up, that’s it I’m on mom mode and I don’t work and try to be as less as possible on my phone/laptop, so i can dedicate my time to her, and enjoy it until I put her to sleep. Once she is asleep I get to do more work, but lately I have been falling asleep with her:) I guess what Im saying is that I just like all mothers am on permanent exhausted mode where sometimes Id rather sleep than stare at a laptop, does that sound familiar? But I have been wanting to share with you guys how amazing my Jo Malone experience was at their City Center DC boutique. I absolutely fell in love with everything Jo Malone, I entered their world with no way out. Jo MaloneJo MaloneJo MaloneJo Malone, City Center DCThe interior design, the packaging, the details, the fragrances, the candles, and of course the hand treatment I received was just magical. I couldn’t get enough of the different frangrances, and the beautiful philosophy of the brand, how loyal it is to it’s London roots, to elegance and grace, because you feel it in every detail. I lived in London for 4 years, and walking into that store I just felt transported back to the city! Jo Malone is truly a brand that lives up to it’s word, quality and it’s fame. Stay tuned for my next post where I will share my favorite products of Jo Malone, which I seriously cannot live without on a daily basis! I will also visit their Barcelona store, so stay tuned for that! For now I hope you enjoy the snaps I took of the store, and if you want to surprise a loved one, or treat them simply because they derserve I recommend Jo Malone’s hand treatment! They let you pick your favorite scents, and use the lotions, essential oils, and their amazing body scrubs, it is an absolute treat, for yourself as well! Jo MaloneJo Malone Jo MaloneJo MaloneJo MaloneJo Malone
