Taking care of my body has always been such a huge part of my daily habits, and routine. I started practicing Yoga and Pilates at the age of 23, I practiced dance and did as much cardio as I could get (most of the time spending two to three hours). I had a lot of time to take care of myself, that I now don’t have anymore, since I am a mother. I have tried getting back into the swing of things, from time to time going to Zumba classes, or some boot camp classes (where I actually hurt myself the last time I went). Which is why when I heard of Amira Training Club once I got back to Barcelona, I couldn’t resist but going. I had tried Barre a few years ago in DC, but I never really got into it. Amira has a way to inspire you in her classes, not only because of her incredible dancen’s body, and the way she lifts her legs with such grace and ease (I definitely look anything but graceful, but slowly getting there). Ever since I have started taking her classes, I feel stronger, more agile, lighter, and simply motivated to take care of my mind body and soul. It sin’t just the technique, it is everything about the space as well, big windows with natural light, greenery when you look at the beautiful courtyard, the other women who are making time to come into the classes and do something positive for themselves, the other classes such as Zumba, or Pilates, but still my favorite is Fitness Ballet with Amira. If you are in Barcelona please try out one of Amira’s classes, and tell me if you do! I will keep posting more about it! Till then I hope you enjoy these few photos…
Barcelona is one of the most visited cities in the world, each year and especially during summer season the city welcomes a sea of tourists on a daily basis. I am proud to call Barcelona my city, not only because it is such a coveted city, but because I am truly in love with it’s beauty. By beauty I meanall it offers, from it’s architecture, it’s story, the beautiful beaches, mountains (Tibidabo, Montjuic), the weather, it’s restaurants and food, it’s shopping, and especially it’s Hotels that come with amazing rooftops and views of the city! So as you can imagine when I got invited by El Palauet for a staycation in their exclusive hotel, I was SO excited. El Palauet is not your normal hotel that you can stroll into the lobby and have a casual coffee or lunch, it is an exclusive space where you need to be let in after ringing the doorbell, and once you walk in you understand why it is Barcelona’s most unique and beautiful hotel. The building is an art nouveau building with a rooftop spa, El Palauet (original Casa Bonaventura Ferrer) hotel is home to chic centre-city suites with high ceilings, stained glass windows, bright-white furniture, and forty-five original ceilings with ornate moulding designs are listed as historic treasures by the Town Hall of Barcelona. Superb carved-wood doors, mosaic tiles, wrought iron ornamentation, dramatic staircases and the traditional elevator have all been meticulously restored. In an art nouveau building that dates back to 1906, each artistically designed suite also comes with a personal assistant with intimate knowledge of all of Barcelona’s barrios. The experience was just amazing, I have stayed in many hotels in Barcelona and while traveling, but this suite just took my breath away, I truly felt like it wasn’t just a hotel, but I could easily live in this suite, I mean wouldn’t we all want to? If you are planning a trip to Barcelona and are looking for that special experience El Palauet is without a doubt the perfect choice, it’s location is super, as it is right on Paseo de Gracia and Diagonal, not too far from Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, and Casa Batllo! Let me know if you have any other questions regarding Barcelona, and I can help you plan your trip, until then enjoy these pictures and remember El Palauet is definitely Barcelona’s best kept secret.
This train station holds many memories for me, specifically going back to 1993 when we moved from Barcelona to Antwerp, and we traveled with the train to Paris and from Paris to Antwerp. I will never forget my mom took me and my brothers to Zara and bought us all new outfits so we could be well dressed on the train, see my mom would always shop new outfits for us whenever we would travel anywhere, and that has stuck with me into my adulthood. And so here I am again at the same spot wearing an all Zara outfit, and yet so much has changed. I find it so amazing, and I don’t take it for granted because I am used to moving countries and cities ever since I am a little girl, some would say I am a Nomad and I would say probably so, and I love it. The thrill that comes with discovering new places, meeting new people, feeling out of place seeing things from another perspective, taking yourself out of your comfort zone, that is what life is about (to me). If you or anyone you know is planning a trip to Barcelona and would like to experience the city with my private tour, feel free to email me, email@example.com and I will personalize the tour with your likes and interests, so you can get the best out of this spectacular city! I will show you all the hidden gems that us locals know about, take you to try out the best tapas, cavas, get the best shopping experience and anything your heart desires! Besos and hope you enjoy this look as much as I do!
Let’s be honest we all daydream of the moment we can get away and get a facial, or a massage, or just get our nails done! But we are all caught up in the day to day routines, work, kids (for those of us who are moms), family, friends, workout, cook, and so many other factors that take up our time. That is why when I received the invitation from Treatwell.es to get pampered I could not say no, I gladly awaited the minute I dropped off Shirel at her aunt and uncle’s place, and me I got to go to Skin Inc with the Treatwell team and Luisa from Una Tal Luisa. The evening started out with fresh vegan treats shipped in from Palma de Mallorca (amazing), with delicious fresh juices, then we each received our personal skin diagnosis by one of the specialists, followed by a session of product recommendations depending on our individual skin needs and issues.
I loved every minute, it was so informative, and eye opening, I learned that I don’t just blush in a cute way, I actually have mild rosacea and a tendency to get blemishes from the sun (it all started during pregnancy, I literally had a dark line above my lip, some would call it a moustache). So I was advised to not drink that much coffee and if I do to make it decaf, because caffeine triggers rosacea even more, of course to protect my skin from the sun always wearing sunblock and not exposing my skin to the sun in high peak hours, to stay hydrated by drinking as much water as possible, and of course treat my skin with the right care and products. Skin Inc’s products feature highly concentrated, pure and active serums and innovative skincare from Japan.
But what I love most about their products is that they contain 0% added scents and parabens, and right away I could feel that on my skin, my skin tenis to get irritante easily if the product is not gentle. So after learning all about their products, like their Pure Revival Peel or Pure UV Protect (my favorite ones), I was treated to their super star treatment which is the Oxy Miracle Peel, to help my skin breathe again, and NO JOKE that was the best thing I have ever done for my skin and I made a pact with myself to go back on a monthly basis and pamper my skin with this heavenly treatment.
Eixample is the neighbourhood that personally to me screams out Barcelona in the most charming way, and of course it is where Paseo de Gracia is, and a few of Gaudi’s most marvellous pieces of art. It is a mixture of old and new Barcelona, transportan you to it’s origins with Markets, neighbourhood bars, stores, and needless to say it’s amazing architecture. Yet on the other hand you can find modern boutiques with up and coming designers, new restaurants with the most intricate interior designs, and spaces such as my new favourite chill out spot Wer-Haus. A space with a men’s shop, a coffee shop, and a little art gallery, all designed to minimalist perfection. I know I keep finding new places where I say that their coffee is amazing, but honestly the coffee here is fantastic, and I happen to have friends who are as passionate about coffee as much as I am so that helps when they tell me where to go! For this occasion as you can see I decided to dress up (with Louboutin’s for a business meeting, and then I dressed it down with white kickz for Wer-Haus chill out) in a little Spring look by Katarina Grey my favorite Barcelona designer, she is so talented and sweet which makes for the perfect combination. She is from Barcelona, but studied at Parsons, and I got to attend her first NYFW show a few years ago, and all I can say is I was in awe back then and I am even more in awe right now! When you enter her world you will never want to leave, it is filled with dramas, beauty and power, and that is all I feel when I wear her magical piece, please check her out and stay tuned as I will be sharing more of her collection, especially for wedding style because wedding season is just around the corner!
